No show, just a lot of Yammer

September 15, 2008 – 10:31 am

I know, I know. Where has the time gone? No new shows yet but I will try to get a “classic” show up later this week.

But for now, a link to some buzz about Yammer. For those who don’t know Yammer is a Twitter-like service for the enterprise. The revenue model is pretty interesting. It is free to sign up, and it is only accessible to those with vaild corporate email addresses. For instance, I signed up with my Cisco email address and I am now one of about 110 people with Cisco.com email addresses, but no one outside that group can see the posts. It’s free to sign up but here is the catch, if the powers that be as Cisco wanted to actually take some editorial control they would have to pay for the right. Nice! Anyhow, here are a couple links that describe it better than I could

Someone was gonna do it…

August 4, 2008 – 7:58 pm

SAP is looking to capitalize on twitter’s kurt way of blogging in their new ESME platform. Just in case you have been in a cave lately, here is a quick paragraph from the article to explain.

Twitter is a free for all once you start building up a body of people you ‘follow’. Company usage is growing rapidly: Cisco Systems, Whole Foods Market, Dell, Zappos.com, Comcast and many other large companies use Twitter to both provide updates to customers and to monitor and contribute to conversations about themselves on this platform. There are also various news and other update services available.

So check out the LINK.

LunchTime Show Classic!

July 25, 2008 – 8:38 am

Since I have been lagging in getting a new show uploaded let’s just pretend that this “classic” show is new.

It’s no secret that I love Flames. Dineresque in a way but good good served up quick. Nothing terribly fancy, but they do have a fantastic Monte Cristo.

This time out I had the Club Sandwich as did my compadre Jason.

Twitter in USA Today

Decent article, good description of Twitter.

The LunchTime.. er DinnerTime Show

July 9, 2008 – 4:50 pm

In this special episode I took my lovely wife out to din din at Roy’s in Pebble Beach. Dee lish Ous! We both had the same thing, the filet with carmelized onions. I paired it with a 2003 Heitz cab and was quite satisfied. Considering I really know NOTHING about wine ‘cept it makes me feel kinda, you know, funny?

as you can see, I really enjoyed the meal.

Desert wasn’t all that bad either. As a matter of fact it was stupendous. Ok, maybe that is a bit over the top, it was real good though.

The LunchTime Show! Sushi E Revisited

July 5, 2008 – 7:02 pm

Our last experience with Sushi E was a bit disappointing so we decided to give it another shot. We had a large group with us and I did end up shooting a lot of video. For  the most part I think everyone was satisfied but I don’t think that it lives up to it’s rating on Yelp. But if this was just a food review program perhaps that would be more important.

One does have to wonder about what the E in Sushi E stands for. The art work on the menu is a bit, uh, well, you decide.

The orders were placed and we waited patiently for our chow. Once it got there I asked Brian to give me a quick review. This is what he had to say.

My translation was a lie, he really said that the food was not all that good. I agree, not really a great place, service was lacking, and it was just a bit too small for a party of 7. Oh well, there are other sushi places in the valley and we will find them!

Engadget braintrust moving on to other things.

July 1, 2008 – 12:25 pm

Ok, so Peter has been gone in a full time capacity for over a year but now Ryan Block is leaving to do something new. Sounds cool, and it’s NOT a blog. Wouldn’t make sense to compete with the old Engadget anyway. Perhaps a social network geared around gear? FUN!

Google is learning to crawl Flash files

July 1, 2008 – 7:22 am

Just like the title says, Google would like to be able to index Flash files. All the text in menus, buttons, any interactivity with text can all be indexed. Very cool and it has some interesting implications.

The LunchTime Show! - Sushi E Well, almost

June 30, 2008 – 6:47 pm

I asked the gang to think up a new sushi place to try out today. They set out early to scour the net for the best that Los Gatos had to offer. The one caveat is that it MUST be open for lunch on Monday. Yelp has some ’splainin to do.

Silicon Valley- The center of the tech universe? Duh!

June 30, 2008 – 5:25 pm

Loic Lemuer from Seesmic was interviewed about his move from France to the San Francisco to start his 5th company. He says some interesting things but comes up with a fairly obvious conclusion. If you want to be in the web 2.0 social networking/computing business you need to be here in the valley or close to it.
